    Camera firmware update

New to all this..... Got the Trophy Room program running... It says I need / have an upgrade to the firmware.. It down loaded the files to the SD card...

Put that in the camera and it comes back with an EC:10 error. Manual says this is "not correct fireware on the SD card". ( page 24 ) Does not say what to do???

Just bought this cameras and trying to get started ..... Thanks... Gerry

    Hi Gerry!

If I remember correctly the firmware files download as a compressed file (cdy_4_0_0.zip). If this is so in your case, here's what I would do:

    1. Move the zip file to your desktop.
    2. Unzip the file by right clicking on it and selecting unzip.
    3. Read the unzipped file that describes which .fw (firmware) file pertains to your camera model.
    4. Put the SD card back in your camera and format it by selecting "Clear" in the proper command menu. This step just helps insure that the camera will reliably recognize your SD card.
    5. Then you need to move the specific .fw file back to the freshly formatted SD card and load firmware.
    6. If you're not sure which .fw file applies specifically to your camera model just load all 3 of them on the card... the camera will sort out which one is right for your model.

This is just how I would do it and maybe it could be done a simpler way, but this way works for me.

Hope this helps get you going!

    Sorry that didn't work!

Maybe it would work if you used the universal firmware update files that you can download from Cuddeback's website here.

Download the zip file to your desktop and unzip it and then move the .fw files to your freshly formatted (in camera) SD card and give that a try. If that doesn't work you'll have to give Cuddeback support a call on Monday... a fate every bit as humiliating as having to stop along the road to ask for directions.

    Good luck!

    Edited post to add:

After snooping around a little it looks like the firmware file that applies directly to your F model camera is cdy_1286_4_0_0.fw which is one of the three firmware files in the universal firmware zip I linked to above. I assume that you've been getting the E-10 error because that file wasn't included in the ones that Trophy Room downloaded for you. It's a shame that Trophy Room would send you on a wild goose chase like that.

OK.. FredG Thanks for your time... Agree they or someone something sent me on a wild goose chase.... Does not leave much for confidence.. Hi hi... Gerry

Edited... I downloaded the file and see what you are taking about.... Camera is old looking for wild life right now... When I bring it in, in the morning will give it a try.....

Guess I will have to ignore the auto ... 'you have updated files???' When it pops up??? Food for thought...Later..Thanks.... Gerry

I think if a firmware update is this confusing and difficult Cudde should allow their customers to ship their cameras back to them and have them install the new firmware free of charge.
